The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude and a desire to work on chemical processes involved in different aspects of the manufacturing of filters at an R&D/prototype scale to pilot and production scales. He/She should demonstrate a proven track record of problem solving and analytical skills to overcome bottleneck and effectively resolve R&D issues to ensure a smooth transition to manufacturing. The candidate needs to be self-driven, motivated to learn and will be expected to take an ownership perspective of the process development, equipment design and scale-up.
We are vertically integrated, striving to have all components of our filters manufactured in-house; from the filtration media to the final filters. The work involved in this approach therefore requires a candidate who is motivated to take on challenging projects, innovate and has the desire to understand and contribute in all aspects of the project; from the development and design stage to scale-up.
Many of our processes require understanding, designing, building and implementing mechanical devices and process controls to deal with different chemistries and polymer materials in order to form functional, reliable and robust filtration products. This entails that the work will not be limited to mechanical design work and process development/optimization, and the responsibility for its implementation will remain with the candidate. The candidate will therefore be responsible for projects, from design to implementation. The ideal candidate is expected to carry out hands-on experimental work, oversee the fabrication of his designs and ideas, build/modify equipment to test and validate concepts, with a sustained and constant focus on technology transfer of the R&D/pilot scale activities to manufacturing viability.
The position will require extensive inter-departmental collaborations. He/she is expected to take a collaborative approach to meeting the projects goals and deadlines and seek out the necessary assistance. He/she will need to be able to work in an interdisciplinary team, ranging from other scientists to technicians and engineers.
The candidate will be able to understand the material properties and physical characteristics of the materials used to implement scalable, robust equipment and processes, which will be adopted in scale-up and manufacturing operations. He/she is expected to be able to carry out their own experiments, testing, DOE and effectively communicate their results through written reports and presentations.
The position will also require to carry out filter testing, failure analysis, lifetime studies, comparative performance evaluations using appropriate equipment and instrumentation.
The candidate is strongly encourage to prepare a presentation and/or bring a portfolio of previous work or projects that demonstrate an ability to perform in this position.
Engineering degree in mechanical engineering or chemical engineering or biomedical engineering. 3-5 years of relevant experience is preferred.
Proven track-record of problem solving aptitude.
