A high capacity, high flow capsule filter that provides the ease and convenience of a single-use assembly in a heavy duty housing.

UltraCap® H.D. (Heavy Duty) capsule filters are designed for processing mid to large size liquid batches and gases under even the most challenging operating conditions. The heavy duty capsules withstand considerably higher operating pressures and are more robust than conventional UltraCap® capsule filters.

UltraCap® H.D filters are destined to become the workhorse for demanding batch and continuous processing applications in the biopharma, pharmaceutical, food & beverage, and microelectronics industries.

UltraCap® H.D. filter sizes

The capsule assemblies are available with a choice of filter media for applications ranging from liquid prefiltration and final filtration to gas venting. Filter sizes include 10-inch, 20-inch, 30-inch, 40-inch and 50-inch lengths for rapid scale-up. The capsule assemblies are available with sanitary flange, hose barb or Flaretek® inlet and outlet connections. UltraCap® H.D. options include a gauge port for pressure measurement and a filter stand for fast and easy installation. Additionally, an SPD (Sterile Process Design) vent is offered on the inline UltraCap® H.D.

The UltraCap® H.D. capsule filter assemblies are gamma sterilizable and free of sharp edges, making them the preferred choice for Meissner’s TepoFlex® biocontainers, and other single-use systems.

For applications requiring multiple UltraCap® H.D. capsule filters, Meissner’s UltraSnap® filter assembly is recommended. This assembly secures pre and final capsule filters into a single-use system that is ready for immediate use.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is UltraCap® H.D. Capsule Filter?

The UltraCap® H.D. Capsule Filter is a single-use capsule filter assembly with a choice of filter media, available in T-style and inline designs. Its one-piece construction combines the filter and housing, so no separate housing needs to be installed, cleaned, or validated.

What applications is UltraCap® H.D. Capsule Filter used for?

UltraCap® H.D. Capsule Filter assemblies are used for liquid prefiltration, final filtration, and gas venting. The available media covers sterilizing-grade filtration, clarification, purification, and prefiltration, so one assembly format can serve several steps in a process. Chemical applications benefit from the sealed design, which keeps operators from contacting dangerous liquids.

What specifications or sizes are available for UltraCap® H.D. Capsule Filter?

UltraCap® H.D. Capsule Filter assemblies are available in 10″, 20″, 30″, 40″, and 50″ lengths, which supports rapid scale-up. Absolute removal ratings range from 0.04 µm to 99 µm. Inlet and outlet connections are available as sanitary flange, hose barb, or Flaretek®. Optional features include a gauge port for pressure measurement, a filter stand for installation, and an SPD (Sterile Process Design) vent on the inline version. The assemblies have an extremely low hold-up volume, a recessed drain, and are available with or without a vent.

What makes UltraCap® H.D. Capsule Filter unique?

The UltraCap® H.D. is gamma sterilizable and free of sharp edges, which makes it suitable for use with TepoFlex® biocontainers and other single-use systems. Because the filter and housing are permanently assembled as one piece, the design eliminates bypass. Pre-gamma-irradiated units remove the need for autoclaving, and the low hold-up design limits product loss.

How does UltraCap® H.D. Capsule Filter integrate with other systems?

Sanitary flange, hose barb, and Flaretek® connections allow the capsule to connect to a range of single-use assemblies. For applications that need multiple UltraCap® H.D. filters, the UltraSnap® filter assembly secures pre and final capsule filters into one single-use system that is ready for immediate use.

What filter options and configurations are available for UltraCap® H.D. Capsule Filter?

Buyers can select the filter media for their process, with absolute removal ratings from 0.04 µm to 99 µm. The assembly is offered in T-style and inline versions, with or without a vent. Gauge ports and filter stands are available as options on the UltraCap® H.D. Lengths of 10″, 20″, 30″, 40″, and 50″ are available to match the required filter area.

What other products are commonly used with UltraCap® H.D. Capsule Filter?

Commonly used products with UltraCap® H.D. Capsule Filter include other capsule filters such as UltraCap® Capsule Filter, Standard Capsule Filters, and Medium Capsule Filters. Additionally, UltraSnap® Filter Assembly is often used for system integration.
