SGT
The SGT provides for secure pressure monitoring within a single-use system.
Meissner’s SGT provides high accuracy pressure monitoring functionality for pre-sterilized single-use systems. The SGT employs a TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) diaphragm, which allows standard sanitary pressure gauges and transducers to be attached to a single-use system while maintaining sterility of the system and eliminating cross contamination concerns. Additionally, gauges and/or transducers can be aseptically removed from the system for offline calibration during processing should this become necessary.
The SGT is available with a wide range of connections, including hose barbs to support tubing from 3/8″ to 1″ inner diameter and ¾” sanitary flange connections, which makes the SGT suitable for nearly all single-use assembly flow paths. The SGT is injection molded from the same polypropylene material as our UltraCap® H.D. capsule filters, thus mitigating the number of fluid contact materials included in your single-use system.
SGTs can be seamlessly integrated into Meissner’s pre-sterilized BioFlex® tubing assemblies.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the SGT (Single-Use Gauge Tee)?
The SGT (Single-Use Gauge Tee) is a single-use pressure monitoring component designed for sterile bioprocess systems. It allows sanitary pressure gauges or transducers to be connected to a single-use fluid path while maintaining system sterility. The device uses a thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) diaphragm that isolates the process fluid from the measurement device.
What applications is the SGT used for?
The SGT is used to monitor process pressure within sterile single-use bioprocess assemblies. It is commonly integrated into single-use fluid transfer systems, filtration assemblies, and biocontainer workflows where pressure monitoring is required without compromising sterility.
What connection options are available for the SGT?
The SGT is available with multiple connection options including hose barbs that support tubing sizes from 3/8″ to 1″ inner diameter and ¾″ sanitary flange connections. These options allow the device to integrate into most single-use assembly flow paths.
What makes the SGT different from traditional pressure monitoring setups?
The SGT uses a permanently welded TPE diaphragm that maintains a sterile boundary between the process fluid and the pressure measurement device. This design allows gauges or transducers to be removed for calibration without exposing the fluid path or introducing cross-contamination risk.
How does the SGT integrate with other Meissner single-use systems?
The SGT can be seamlessly integrated into BioFlex® fluid path assemblies and other components within Meissner’s One-Touch® single-use systems portfolio, allowing pressure monitoring to be incorporated directly into sterile fluid handling workflows.
Is the SGT suitable for regulated biopharmaceutical manufacturing?
Yes. The SGT is constructed from polypropylene and TPE materials that are gamma stable and animal component free. It has also been tested for biocompatibility and meets requirements for USP Class VI plastics testing, supporting use in regulated biopharmaceutical processes.
Can the SGT be customized or integrated into custom assemblies?
Yes. The SGT is typically supplied as part of an integrated single-use fluid path assembly and can be configured with different tubing connections and assembly designs to match specific process requirements.
What other Meissner technologies are commonly used with the SGT?
The SGT is commonly used alongside BioFlex® fluid path assemblies, M-Flex® TPE tubing, and Meissner capsule filters to create complete sterile single-use fluid handling systems.
