Mini Capsule
Meissner’s CM and CK mini capsule filters are designed for ease of integration into single-use systems. The capsules’ trim profile makes them highly compatible with small volume single-use biocontainers and tubing assemblies. The compact size of the CM and CK capsule filters minimizes fluid hold-up volume for maximum product recovery. The capsules can be ordered with no vents, one vent, or with dual vents in either luer ports or sanitary vent valves. Available with Meissner’s full range of sterilizing-grade filtration, clarification, purification, and prefiltration media with absolute removal ratings from 0.04 µm to 99 µm.
CM and CK capsule filters are available in gamma-irradiated models. The filters comply with European Commission Regulation No. 10/2011. Capsule filter materials of construction meet FDA standards for food contact per 21 CFR 177. A capsule filling bell can be specified for protection against airborne contaminants in liquid filling applications.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are Mini Capsule Filters?
Mini Capsule Filters are compact filtration devices designed to be integrated into single-use bioprocessing systems. They consist of a capsule housing containing filter media, used to remove particulates and contaminants from fluids in biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes. The Meissner CM and CK models are examples of such filters engineered for ease of use within disposable system setups.
What applications are Mini Capsule Filters used for?
Mini Capsule Filters are used primarily in biopharmaceutical manufacturing for fluid clarification, sterilization, and particle removal. They are suitable for applications including cell culture harvest clarification, buffer filtration, media preparation, and final product filtration within single-use processing systems.
What specifications or sizes are available for Mini Capsule Filters?
Specific size and specification details for Mini Capsule Filters such as membrane type, pore size, surface area, and housing dimensions are not provided here. Typically, these filters come in various configurations to accommodate different flow rates and filtration requirements within single-use systems. For precise specifications, consult product datasheets or technical documentation from Meissner Corporation.
What makes Mini Capsule Filters unique?
Mini Capsule Filters are designed for seamless integration into single-use systems, emphasizing ease of installation and compatibility with disposable bioprocessing components. Their compact design minimizes hold-up volume and system footprint, facilitating efficient fluid handling in closed, sterile environments. This design supports rapid setup and reduces cross-contamination risks in biopharmaceutical workflows.
How do Mini Capsule Filters integrate with other systems?
Mini Capsule Filters integrate into single-use bioprocessing systems via standardized connectors compatible with tubing and fittings used in disposable assemblies. Their design supports straightforward incorporation into fluid paths, enabling connection with upstream and downstream components without requiring complex modifications. This facilitates modular system assembly and scalability in biomanufacturing processes.
Are Mini Capsule Filters suitable for regulated biopharmaceutical manufacturing?
Yes, Mini Capsule Filters are suitable for regulated biopharmaceutical manufacturing environments. They are designed to meet industry standards for single-use filtration components, supporting sterile processing and compliance with good manufacturing practices (GMP). Proper documentation and validation protocols should be followed to ensure regulatory compliance during use.
Can Mini Capsule Filters be customized?
Customization options for Mini Capsule Filters may include variations in membrane material, pore size, filter area, and connector types to meet specific process requirements. Custom configurations can be requested to align with unique bioprocessing needs, subject to manufacturing feasibility and technical evaluation by Meissner Corporation.
What other products are commonly used with Mini Capsule Filters?
Mini Capsule Filters are commonly used alongside upstream and downstream single-use components to form integrated bioprocessing systems. Complementary products include UltraClamp™ Sanitary Clamps for secure tubing connections, Universal Lab Stand for system support, Stainless Steel Stand for FlexFill® Biocontainers for container stabilization, and SGT (Single-Use Gauge Tee) for process monitoring integration.
